Green Man Viral Desai delivers a thought-provoking lecture on Environmental protection at SPB college in Surat
Surat: Viral Desai, the famous textile magnate fondly known as the “Green Man” for his unwavering devotion to environmental protection, presented an enthralling address at Surat’s SPB College, Athwalines. Desai shared useful insights from his book ‘Architect of Amritpath’ while focusing light on India’s remarkable efforts towards environmental preservation during the event, which was attended by over a hundred NSS students.
The programme, which was attended by VD Naik, Principal of SPB College, was an educational event for the young minds keen to contribute to environmental sustainability.
Viral Desai highlighted the media’s prevalent misunderstandings regarding India’s environmental attitude. “In the global media, India is frequently portrayed as a country plagued by pollution and responsible for carbon emissions,” he remarked. However, we should be proud that India has remained staunchly committed to the Paris Agreement.”
Desai went on to list many notable environmental efforts conducted by the Government of India over the last decade that have received worldwide praise. He highlighted programmes such as Mission LiFE, Namami Gange, and the Big Cats Alliance, which have greatly contributed to India’s worldwide reputation in environmental protection.
Viral Desai’s engaging lecture offered compelling information about environmental conservation, instilling a feeling of knowledge and responsibility in the listening audience of NSS students.
Desai, an alumni of SPB College, warmly recalled his experience as a student and conveyed his thanks to the college. During the occasion, they also oragnised a tree plantation program on the college campus to express his commitment to creating a greener planet.
The NSS program’s coordinators and senior academicians, Dr. Sunil Rajani and Dr. Faridaben Mandviwala, also attended and praised Viral Desai’s efforts to motivate the younger generation to be environmentally sensitive.
